37 weeks: The Final Countdown (do-do-do-doooooooo!)

Still manic! Does Mummy ever stop and put her feet up?! (We'll answer that one later).

She at least finished at work last Friday. When she got back home, she instantly cashed in her year's tube-pass by way of marking the occasion. She is going to avoid the Underground as much as possible for the next few months - and figured the cash would come in handier, now she is officially (as she calls it) a "Pov" and "On the Social".

£123/week she'll get as Statutory Maternity Pay - after 16 years of paying taxes!!! Mummy is worried that with the apparent size of my bottom (which she keeps seeing move from side to side in her tummy now I've finally turned upside down) my poos will be HUGE, so this paltry sum will barely keep me in nappies.

Anyway, Friday night. Paaaaaarty - yes?! Well, at least Daddy was sane enough to be out (he's got a lot of beer to drink in the next few weeks) but Mummy got home and started instead to hoover and tidy like a nutter. Not so much the "nesting instinct", more the fact she had her girlfriends coming over for her 'Mummy Shower' the next day, and if lots of them were having pedicures, she didn't want their pampered feet to get grubby on her floors! Oh dear, is she going all Bree from Desperate Housewives on us???

Daddy got home very late and was a bit wobbly, Mummy said, but he told her how much he loved her several times and then proved it by insisting on taking the hoover off her and finishing the job off ve-e-e-e-ery slowly and carefully! Although it would have taken Mummy less time to do it herself, she thought it was sweet of him to offer, she was tired, and besides, she found it quite comical to watch him concentrating so hard on the job... :)

The Mummy Shower next day was LOTS of fun.

All my soon-to-be-favourite Aunties came to make a fuss of Mummy (with lots of lovely and thoughtful pressies) for the last time before I steal the show off her *forever*.

It was a great turn-out: Chrissie, Nicky, Jems, Lis, Clare, Crin, Le'Nise, PK, Soph, GiGi, Kitty, Grish & Rumbs and, quite excitingly, my REAL Auntie P who is moving to London (yay!)...as well as Daddy's buff friend Marcus, who made the ladies quite excitable by butlering for them, naked as the day I'll be borned (except for a little apron) and 3 beauticians who made them all look *even* prettier than when they arrived!

Daddy left as Marcus 'got into uniform' - especially as he kept offering to get him a uniform too. Mummy said that was too much information, not needed by any of her friends, and everyone agreed, so Daddy went out again. (Not sure if it's coincidence, but he has started going to the gym in earnest again this week...!)

Nicky, Mummy's friend from college days, offered to do the photographs (that's her real job too), so Mummy is going to wait for those pics and then she'll put some up here.

The girls all seemed to have a lovely time - although I think some of them drank a bit too much! They kept prodding and yelling at me, trying to get me to move. Personally, I think these growed-ups need to get out more, if me moving is what passes for entertainment these days, but I did oblige them sometimes, just to hear them squeal... :)

Since then, Mummy has been cleaning the house, painting skirting boards (!!!), planning and sorting stuff, being a general domestic goddess, "facebooking", shopping and catching up with friends whilst she still can.

Although she's still not got round to ironing Daddy's shirts like she said she would. But she *has* been letting him go out with his friends a lot, so he doesn't mind too much.

And she is finally putting her feet up now and again, as the curse of the swollen legs has finally got to her, which makes her feet look "piggy" and ankles become "cankles". She says she used to have cute feet and elegant ankles...but none of her shoes fit her any more which makes her former hobby, shoe-shopping (she has a posh event next week) very difficult right now.

Never mind, Mummy - in about 3 weeks the only shoes you'll have on your mind are cute little baby ones...!
